Is it just me? Every time I go to shop for bathing suits I am confused as to why 2-piece swimsuits need to be sold in separate pieces. Are there women walking around in just tops or just bottoms? :eek:hmy: Or are there that many women who want different sized tops and bottoms or different patterned/colored separates? I wouldn't mind, but every single time I can find my size in a top but then can't find my size in the same color/pattern bottom. Or vice-versa. Every time! And I don't wear an unusual size - very tiny or large.

Just stick the top and bottom together and then I wouldn't have to hunt for both pieces. It drives me nuts.

    That's all. :)

I'm small on top & big on the bottom, but I'm not comfortable in a 2 piece, unless it's a tankini.

Separate pieces works wonderfully for me: I buy a halter top and board shorts for bottoms.

It could be due to choosing a popular size/style.

I usually order my bathing suits online. Then, I usually end up exchanging either the top or bottom for a different size. I like having all of the options that shopping online offers, but sizing is so hard!

Size would be a big one for me. I'm rather large chested.

Sometimes I like a plain bottom but bright top too.*

    *back when I wore bikinis.

I knew going into this thread that my opinion would be in the minority. ;)

I am definitely two different sizes, so I'm glad you can buy them separately.

That said, I can never seem to find the size/color combos I need, either! :)

I'm usually an M on top and an L on the bottom. Too much junk in the trunk :haha:

What does annoy me is how freaking expensive they are! So little fabric for so much money.

(PS- I recently bought an athletic two piece for working out in, I love it. The only two piece I own that doesn't move! I can swim, jump, play in the ocean, etc and it won't move at all. It's great!)

I always assumed it was for people who like to mix and match. Like i love to wear colorful tops, mbut I hate colorful bottoms, so i might get a bright turquoise top with a pattern, but a plain black bottom.

I need different sizes - a small on the top and a medium on the bottom. I don't mix and match patterns and definitely get annoyed when they only have tops but no bottoms. But if I'm going to get something that fits, I need to be able to buy the 2 pieces separately.

Sorry, I'm with the majority here. Boob size is much bigger than the rest.

Wow... the things you learn as a guy on this board.:p

I had no idea women's two-piece swimsuits aren't sold as a set! Next time I go to the beach I'll have to look carefully for how many coordinated vs. "mismatched" sets of bikinis I see.

    I'm a size 12 bottom and 38DDD on top. I can't buy a set. Not even close.

It's mostly because of the possibilities of the sizes: not everyone will look the same: small hips + large chest, small hips + small chest, wide hips + small chest, and so on and on. On top of it there are lot of styles which vary in coverage, so even within the same size people will have different taste, which can be due to taste, age, looks, etc.
So mix and match makes it easier. And, you can actually mix the colors as well.

I usually buy a nice (read: expensive) top in a store, so I can try it on. Then I buy a nice (read: cheap) bottom online. I always always always wear black bottoms.
