I am starting off with a plant unit in Science. Does anyone have any great activities I can use with my second graders?

I love doing our plant unit!!! This website has some great ideas!!
I actually did the greenhouse/germination activity and it was a hit!

I also did the plant labeling activity with the pipe cleaners & cupcake wrappers! We got alot of compliments on our interpretation of a plant.:)
Here's another great resource that I borrowed from last year:

    plants

Plants are my favorite unit as well! My focus is on how many different ways we can grow plants instead of the regular seed in dirt method. We sprout wheat kernels in clear plastic straws with a paper towel "wick" i the bottom. We learn about plant cuttings and watch them sprout roots in water. We sprout garlic and onion bulbs i cups with wet cotton in the bottom. Let me know if you want specific directions!

yes, I do it first thing to get them going because I do insects and life cycles in the spring... we have great growing weather here in the fall... I use FOSS kits, so would be happy to send you the directions to all those cool plants things if you send me your email... I am new to this board so do not know if that is possible, but please try... if not, post again and I will post back in short version...

    Pumpkins or apples!
I love the life cycle of fruit plants because they add the flower.
