I made my C.U.P.S. sign this evening - please check it out and offer constructive criticism, please! I'm planning to: (1) post it in my room as a reminder, (2) have the kids glue it into their interactive writing notebooks, (3) make bookmarks, or all three! Seriously, I'm looking for professional honesty - remember it's for my 3rd grade classroom.

    Thank you!

I think it looks nice. I might go with a different font, though. It is a bit hard to read.

I agree with RainStorm: that font is a little difficult to read.

I love the acronym. I may use it with my high schoolers!

I've used a poster like that before! I color coded the four letters with common highlighter colors and had the kids edit with highlighters to prove they had capitals and ending marks.

I think the font you used on the right hand side is cute, but the U is a little hard to read, and it's a little fancy for kids. I would probably use a bolder fun font - like Smiley Monster or Annoying Kettle. Just my two cents!

K... the font will change... I'm just so sick of Comic Sans, lol! I have Annoying Kettle, so it may be that one.

I agree the font on the right is hard to read. There are tons of non-comic sans font options out there (I'm really not a fan of it!). I like fontsquirrel.com for some cute ones.

Love the idea and the visual you designed. My suggestions would be to use a clearer font (I'm a big fan of Primer which is available as a free download) that is consistent throughout the document. I would also center the letters on each of the mugs. Overall it's good and I think it will be a helpful resource for your students. Are you getting excited for 3rd?

I think it looks great! Great idea! Is there any way to move the C down so it´s below the brim of the cup?

Unfortunately, with the roundabout way I have to do it on this laptop (school issue - my personal laptop is currently out of commission), I don't have the control over the letter placement like I would like. I won't have my laptop before school starts (Aug. 12), so I'm trying to get stuff done. :/

I admit I'm not as familiar was Word as I should be, but would you be able to place the letters INSIDE text boxes and then somehow place the text boxes over the cups? Can you do layers like that? :)

I really like this version! I like the different colors for the acronym and the fonts that you used.

    If we're being picky... :)

I would put the CUPS letters in text boxes, remove the border and fill, and place them exactly where they'd look best. I would also remove the "unctuation" and instead put those letters in a text box as well, remove the border and fill, and then slide it closer to the P at the beginning of the word...it looks as though there is a space between the "P" and " unctuation" and I know it's just because of the "P", so this would take care of that.

And this is completely my own personal visual taste, but I'd move the pencil closer to the bottom right corner to balance things a bit.

It will be useful, I'm sure!

If you have Word do you also have Powerpoint? They often come bundled and that would give you more flexibility.

Well, it looks super cute! I love everything we can do with technology these days. I just learned how to make a video with pictures, a song I got from youtube, and then upload it to youtube. I was very happy to have learned how to do that!

Stupid question: I'd like this to remain in portrait orientation. Could I do that in PowerPoint? I thought of that, but the orientation kept me in Word.....

JustMe - I see your points.... not sure if I'll change it or not, but I DO see what you mean.

    Thanks all for your comments?

You can change the orientation of the slides in PPT by going in the 'design' tab. I do everything in ppt; it's just so much easier for me!!

The C in Capital Letters should be the same color as the C on the cup. This makes the visual tie from the cups to the instructions. Green highlighter for capital letters. Pink highlighter for usage. ....

Otherwise the tie isn't completely there.
