I have to laugh-I HATE Feliz Navidad!!!!!!! I cringe when it is on the radio. In my classroom one year, every time it came on the radio, I had one student who calmly walked over and turned it off!

    Mary, Did You Know

(After MUCH deliberation! I love Christmas music, as well. I break it out on my 8 hour drive home from Thanksgiving at my parents.)

My favorite has to be a song on the disc Beyond the Season by Garth Brooks. It's called Mary's Dream. It is very short, less than a minute, but is the most beautiful violin I have ever heard. It literally lifts my heart...

I think you can hear it here...

Since lots of you already listed my favs, I'd have to say, that for me, the beautiful old Christmas carols are moving. In particular, Silent Night, Holy Night brings some cherished memories to the front of my mind. Singing Silent Night, I am instantly 10 years old, caroling with my dad and mom hearing the snow crunch under my feet as we walked house to house. Silent Night congers up a memory of my dad's face when he found an old recording of his dad and him, then a young boy, singing Silent Night together, followed by "I love you, Son." I remember him playing it and replaying it. Silent Night makes me think of how things must have been on the original night. Silent Night reminds me of watching the Bob Hope retrospective with his USO work and the tears running down the soldiers face. The stark contrast between the task at hand and the folks at their homes was just moving. I needed a mop for my face. It also brings me to today with my family who will still sing it and makes me think of the many years that have come and gone, the folks who have gone and the joys that are yet to be.

But my ALL TIME FAVORITE isn't even a song, it's a monologue that in the years before itunes, youtube, etc...my dad and I waited hours on Christmas Eve to hear on the Dusty Rhodes Christmas Radio show presented by Folgers Coffee, which sadly isn't on the radio anymore. :(

I absolutely love Garth Brooks and "The Gift". We've already been listening to it in my class.

Tied with it is, "Mary Did You Know?". It has been sung by many, but I love how Kathy Mattea does it. The line where she sings "When you kiss your little baby you are kissing the face of God". That just blows me away.

Have you heard Reba sing it? She gives me chills every time I hear it.
