I'm student teaching now and will be asking the principal to come in and observe a lesson. I would like to put a note in her mailbox, but I'm not sure if I should type up a formal letter or just write a note (on a note card or small piece of paper).

I'm leaning towards just writing it since it's not something I will be mailing to her. It will just go into her mailbox. What do you think? Any ideas of what I can say? I want to ask her to observe me so I can get her input on my lesson/teaching skills and that she can come at whatever day/time works for her. Thanks.

Why do you need to write a note? Just go ask her-a face-to-face is a better chance to make a good impression. Make it casual but stop by her office sometime and just ask.

Afterwards, I would definitly type a thank you note.

Just handwrite aa note asking them to come in at their earliest convience. Add that you would like some input on your teaching and would like to recieve comments from various staff members, including the principal.

I wrote her a note (on nice paper) because my CT agreed that it would be way too formal. I didn't want to ask her in person because it would put her on the spot. This way, she can look at her calendar and figure out what day works for her.

Your thank note should be handwritten.......too formal to type it esp. since you know her and work in her school.....
