    Hello!

I'm an Australian teacher looking to move to NY to work. I have a couple of questions:

    1. Is the hiring freeze still in place? Where can I find the most up to date information about this?
    2. Has anyone successfully gotten NY state teacher certification with an international degree? My search for how to do so keeps sending me in circles - I need a job offer to get a visa, but I need a SSN to get my certification, but I need a visa to get a SSN, but I need a job offer to get a visa ... see my difficulty? ;)

Also curious to hear any and all stories about moving to USA to teach! :)

I'm confused. Do you want to work in NYC or NY state? I don't think there is a hiring freeze in the whole state. Maybe in NYC only but I haven't heard anything about that. You would have to check the NY state education department website and contact someone there.

I don't think there is a hiring freeze in New York. I bet you could teach.
