So, I have an interview in which I will be doing a demo lesson on knowing and using non-fiction text features. It is for a second grade position.

    Any amazing ideas out there?

You could do a lesson using one page of text from, say, a social studies magazine. Have the students (interviewers) cut apart the article into: Title, Headlines, Sub-headings, pictures with captions, text. Next, have them glue the sections back into place. You may want them to have an intact copy to refer to, or the page they glue onto may have the sections outlined. Last, have the students highlight the first and last sentences of each paragraph and read them with partners to see what info they get from just those lines and discuss how it relates to the heading or sub-heading.
