I know that some people may not be a fan of the "like" feature, but one of the knitting forums I frequent has something similar with a bunch of different options: educational, interesting, funny, agree, disagree, and love. It's pretty awesome.

I like the current set up and the new ideas listed. Would also like to see a place for teachers working with refugee students.

Thank you for all of the suggestions! There will be an upgrade coming, but I have a few projects I have to finish first. An improved forum is definitely part of the overall plan. :)

Feel free to keep adding and I will consider your feedback.

I think the forum is great as it is.

One of the most important features to me is 'View new posts' and being able to open a thread to where I left off last time. Hope you can keep those features.

Also, the forum is fast and simple to use. Anything that negatively affects the speed/clean lines/ease of use will drive some people away.

    Hope this helps.

(I do occasionally wish for a "Treading On Thin Ice" button... and there have been times when I wished for it seriously.)

I would really like to see a spell check option in the reply boxes!

I looked into it and they don't make anything built into the forums anymore since browsers now have spell check.

If anyone needs spell check, I use Firefox and it's built in. I think Chrome should have it too. :)

Just to update everyone, this upgrade is still being planned and I am still not sure exactly when. Another project that I'm working on is taking longer than I anticipated.

Also, please be prepared for some frustration since things will be different. There will be a transition period where I'll be adding back features that might be missing in the initial launch.

The long range plan is to integrate the forum into the main atoz site a bit more which should bring more teachers to the forum so we can all learn from each other that much more. :)

I love you guys! :) I'm on my school computer, and the IT people wanted us to use IE8 (YUCK) because it's the only one compatible with our learning management system. But now that it's SUMMER, I'm free to use Firefox, my browser of choice. :)

Just curious, Amanda: which forum software are you looking to switch to if you're moving away from vBulletin?

There WILL be a mobile version. YES! That would be so nice. Is it just a m.webpage or will it be an app in android/apple markets

    New Feature Possibilities:

The ability to "like" a post. I keep looking for that. But does that mean it would connect to FB or would the two remain unconnected?
Photo galleries This would be a nice way to see the classroom setups so many people post.
Downloads (file sharing)This is nice too.
Chat room and Groups These are a nice way to connect

I'm not sure about the details of the mobile version yet. There is an Apple app (Android planned), but it doesn't get good reviews.

The "like" option doesn't have anything to do with Facebook. :thumb:

OK, just noticed this and didn't skim al 8 pages but...

Can there be a way to keep NEW posts NEW until we read them or "clear" them? I hate it when I get on here then get pulled away from the computer for a long period of time and it erases my NEW posts. :/
