I had taught fifth grade for several years but my last 8 years has been in kindergarten. My family and I just relocated to Georgia and I just got a teaching position in 5th! I am excited but a little scared! So I would love some advice:

    1. Behavior Management- my daughters class uses conduct cards and they mark EVERYTHING... does that work? What do you do?

    2. Can I still have a cutesy classroom?

    3. Any words of advice?

Yes you can still have a cutesy classroom. I know several teachers who use clip charts, but I do not like public displays of behavior. I give a verbal warning then consequences as they arise.

I use a clip chart and it works great. I even have one for my two rotations of ss. I have a bright and colorful room...not cutesy but fun and lived in.
