Hey, guys. I have been informed recently that I am going to be teaching reading instead of Social Studies after Christmas. I have about two weeks to prepare, and was wondering if anyone could share ideas or links with me that would be helpful.

Get your hands on Regie Routman's Teaching Reading would be my advice. It's my go-to for teaching Fourth grade reading.

Does your school use a basal curriculum, workshop method, guided reading, some other approach?

I'm not sure if you are jumping in with a new program or easing in and slowly changing things week by week or group by group. Here are a couple of resources:

Laura Candler teaches reading workshop strategies. She has a website with videos to watch and documents to download.

Superteacherworksheets.com has worksheets that cover reading comprehension, cause & effect, and fact or opinion.

    Best Wishes!

I would also recommend Fountas and Pinnel's Teaching Reading Grades 3-5. There are several by them, and all are worth their weight in gold.
Regie Routman (from NE OHIO! :D) is also very good.
We currently use Reading Street, but if you can get your hands on Making Meaning, it is awesome!

    Yes!

We are using Reading Street as well. The writing assessment is in less than two months, and I am needing to teach quite a bit of writing.

Check out Being a Writer, by the same company as Making Meaning. What writing do you have to do? We did not give a writing assessment with Reading Street, so I am unfamiliar with it.
