    Hello everyone. I am currently a graduate student pursuing a Student studies concentration. I wanted to see if someone could assist with my current class. I would like to discuss the basics of lesson planning in elementary schools and how teachers know their students are struggling. I am not a teacher nor do I have any children in elementary school...so I have no one to ask about these sort of things. Thank you for your time.
    Thank you :)

    Google Lesson planning format, diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment.

    The way you teach is most important. Not like that in one minute you tell everything;
    Go in this manner - Tell one concept - Ask them whether they understood or not; Again ask them to explain it if they understood.

    Yeah thank you for your response. Students understanding is key. Another question is who dictates what a school or teacher has to teach? I've read it was federal and state. What happens if for whatever reason you as a teacher may not want to teach the subject? Is there any flexibility?

    You need to teach what's in the standards. If you can't do that, save your money and find another career. Standards are typically adopted at the state level but often they are adopting most of the same stuff everyone is adopting, they might just swap out names or words.
