Well, I decided to temporarily move back in with my parents. I will be working in their home and sleeping in my childhood bedroom. Certainly not what I wanted but it is necessary. I thought about graduate school, student teaching, and saving money. I also have no desire to rent again after the bedbug situation. It freaked me out and the property manager is still giving me issues. After signing an agreement to move my things out by last week, I am still waiting for the furniture company to pick up the furniture I was leasing. Everything is out the apartment except for the sofa and tv set that I was leasing for 16 months. The property manager is getting on my NERVES. I can not control when the truck does pickups or deliveries. She wants the furniture gone by tomorrow at 5 but the truck will not be able to come until 7. I was also stood up multiple times from the furniture company or she will release documents to the credit bureau. I am not worrying because I will do escrow or post another bad review on their company website. So there is that issue and on top of grad school and teach examination.

Besides all of that, this was a learning experience for sure. The only thing that is keeping me happy is the positives. I am single with no kids. I can literally move anywhere or travel anywhere after I complete grad school and earn my certificate in teaching. I even may consider teaching abroad.

    Need much encouragement

I’d find someone else to move the furniture. Why does the company have to move it?

I was on 6 month lease contract. I had 6 month to pay it in full but now that I am moving I told them to pick up the furniture and end my contract

And you think you are going to get out of the furniture lease for free? It is my understanding that most leases require you to pay a penalty if you break the lease.

You are correct that you have the freedom to travel when you are finished with school. How long do you think it will take? Are you planning on getting a job in the meantime?

No. There is no penalty because I didn't even keep the furniture for a full month! Couldn't enjoy it!

Yes I plan on getting a job but I really want to teach abroad before I start a career teaching in public schools

Does the furniture company know about the bedbugs?

I forgot about that...the furniture company will probably not take it back if they know there were bedbugs in the apartment. I'm not sure what they would do if you don't say anything and then their warehouse gets infested.

So you're back with your parents, living there and working for them?
I don't think you ever learn from any situation. Sorry to sound so harsh, but haven't you been down this cycle a few times, realizing how it's not a good thing, cut all ties then you're back?

What do you mean by doing escrow? Leaving a bad review when it was you who broke the lease is dishonest at best. Im having a hard time believing you got out of your furniture AND apartment leases with no penalties.

I told the furniture company and they told me that it was ok. The couches are routinely checked and vacumed.

Nothing personal, OP, but I can't believe that you are going to live there for long before you are working for them. Out of curiosity, do they live in GA? I thought they were in FL. How is that going to work when it is time to do your student teaching? Just curious.

The city in GA I lived in is 40 mins away and I am working from home online. Not at their preschool. I will be staying until February. By that time, I will have enough saved up to move somewhere. I will have a teacher cert and a MEd im February

Are there other teacher forums to explore? This place is full of uptight people.
