I am teaching a Multi Needs class at the middle school level. I am having a super hard time with activities to keep them actively learning all day. The students have severe/profound disabilities. They are all non-verbal and we have a hard time assessing if learning is happening. I am looking for activities to fill in during the day. I feel like we have way too much down time. HELP!! :dizzy: Here is what my schedule looks like:

    arrival/toileting
    Social greetings around school
Calendar - What do you do during calendar? I feel like I am abopve their heads on this one!
Reading using the PCI Environmental Signs Curriculum
    Snack
    Pre- Vocational work
    Adapted PE
    Lunch
    Rec/Leisure
    Math Centers
    Art/Cooking Activity
    School Jobs
    Toilet/Home Prep

For calendar time, you can have them participate by making choices. Do you use PECS or any ..the name escapes me now..voice boxes?

You might say, what is your name? And they would touch their name. Same for day of the week, weather etc...

Do you do any musical activities? My former students loved music time. You can do a lot of fine/gross motor activities during music.
