I teach 8th grade math, and our classes are 90 minutes long. Everyday. With the same students all year.

So far, I've been pretty traditional in my teaching, but with so much extra time, I feel like I should be utilizing it better.

Any ideas of things that I could do to keep their interest for the full class period? I don't necessarily HAVE to do math for the full 90 minutes everyday. I feel like I need to be constantly switching gears to keep them engaged.

Most textbooks have a unit project. You could have the students work for part of the class on some days on a group project applying their skills from the unit....
