    Hi, teachers!

My principal has assigned me to teach third-grade this coming school year. I know this is going to be a challenge, because I have only taught fifth-grade Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies. So, I am a little apprehensive. :help:

Any help or words of wisdom that any of you third-grade teachers can provide will be genuinely and greatly appreciated!!

    Many THANKS!!! :)

    Hi,

Although I have never taught third grade I know from other teachers that is is a great grade. The kids are really able to hold great conversations and get deeper into book discusssions. Of course it is their 1st year for the FCAT so test-taking strategies need to be developed further. I think with your experience in 5th you will be able to handle it with ease. I teach 2nd and I do know that it is a big transition between the two grades. Good Luck!

Get a copy of your curriculum and start mapping out a rough schedule of your year. 3rd grade is NEW content rich!
