    An Irish Prayer

    May God give you...
    For every storm, a rainbow,
    For every tear, a smile,
    For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
    For every problem life sends,
    A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Funny story... my very first band competition fell on St. Patrick's day. The director gave everyone a little shamrock sticker to wear on our shirts. And we got a superior! To this day - every single concert I ever played in, I had that little shamrock sticker somewhere on me. The luck of the Irish is strong :)

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
    May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and
    until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

    Traditional gaelic blessing

Dave, that's something I love about the whole thing.

Today we'll celebrate the Irish culture as though it was ours. Then on Monday, lots of Italians will celebrate the feast of St. Joseph (though I'm still not sure how he ties in to Italy.) Then on Cinco de Mayo, we'll all celebrate the Mexican heritage. I love the fact that we celebrate all these different cultures, regardless of whether or not they happen to be the ones we grew up with.

Maybe St Joseph is the patron saint of Italy.

My house smells yummy - corned beef and soda bread.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all.

    That wasn't me, Mrs. C.

I never liked corned beef and cabbage. Then I worked on St. Patrick's weekend in an Irish pub, and can barely tolerate the smell.

But I hope all of you who enjoy it have your fill:)

Thanks for the well-wishes, Alice. I've got my potatoes and cabbage in the crock pot (no meat), and now I'm off to mass.

Had St Pats dinner at sister's house last night...it was niece's bday. Today went to sons' rugby feis and came home...corned beef has been in crockpot all afternoon. Cabbage is roasting in oven, potatoes are boiling...it's round 2!
Hope you all had a great weekend!

    Love this.

BTW...I just read that St Joseph's Day is also Fathers Day in Italy, as well as a few other countries.

I used to live near NYC when I was a kid and we would get the best St. Joseph cakes!
I was definitelly "Irish" yesterday. My Irish soda bread finally came out good!

Tomorrow one of the teachers will bring in lots of pastries for lunch. They all look so good.

But (hidden confession time: ) Italian last name or not, I have absolutley no desire to eat the Italian pastries. I hate cannolis and all the other goodies. (Give me a loaf of bread and some butter, and look out. But I'm not into Italian pastries.)

A very Happy St. Joseph's Day to all those celebrating!

Had a shamrock shake and wore our green!!!
I love St.Patrick's day it's fun to see everyone wearing green...we don't really have holidays that have a specific color that everyone wears.
