Good Read Alouds for teaching central message/lesson

    Anyone know any good read alouds for teaching central message/lesson to 1st graders?

    That would depend on what your message/lesson is. For being true to yourself, I would suggest A Bad Case of Stripes. For predicting/sequencing, how about Pancakes for Breakfast or Charlie Needs a New Cloak? Does that make sense? Without knowing what your message is, I can't offer any sensible suggestions.

    I guess I didn't make myself clear. I meant the author's central message or lesson that the author is trying to convey. Thanks!

    Beautiful! We've been doing patterns and sequencing last week and we used pancakes... had no idea there was a book just about these two things. That will tie in nicely with my kids. Maybe I'll read it Wednesday. Thanks!

    Do you mean author's purpose? to inform, to entertain, to persuade?

    or do you mean the moral of the story?

    My head is not super clear right now, so I'm kinda dense - I'll share anything I know, but we have to push the right buttons, lol!
