Besides food and prices, can you give me good examples of fractions in the real world? Preferably equivalent fractions. I am drawing a blank!

    Thanks!

Cooking measurements are big--I used to use a clay mixing activity to work on fractions and it used measuring spoons.

Fractions are another way to cite percentages. How many people handed in their homework today? 18/20....9/10 of the people did their homework! How many people LIKE something (survey)? 99/100 people like crest toothpaste (made up that statistic). How many peices of chocolate out of all the peices of candy did you recieve for Halloween?

if you're musically inclined--- music notes! You have your whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note.... and they all add up to each other of course. so two half notes are the same length as a whole note.
