I bought those foam puzzle pieces and really like them, but was trying to figure out if I would want a rug on top of the foam or not. I found a good deal on one and am contemplating buying it, but just don't know if I should just stick with the foam itself and use the money on something else or not. Anyone use both? Anyone think the rug on top of the foam is unnecessary?

On top seems unnecessary to me. However, we had those foam pieces in my daughters' room over hardwood flooring and all kinds of stuff got under there and rubbed scratches into the floor. Sand, dirt, and so on. It was a pain to remove them to vacuum because they statically attracted hair and fuzz. A total pain. Just my experience.

I've seen them looking really nasty dirty in other classrooms so maybe the carpet would help with that???
