I have just been assigned to teach 6th grade English. For the past 5 years I taught K, and before that I taught 3rd. Does anyone have a suggested resource to find out about making student portfolios?
    Thanks

The book, Assessment: Time-Saving Procedures for Busy Teachers (3rd ed.) by Bertie Kingore is a great resource for building portfolios. It has tons of ideas for implementing, letters to parents explaining, and instructions for what to include. There are also forms for how to score items and teaching kids how to self assess. It is one of my favorite books because it has ideas for every grade and every subject.
    Link to book for $30
P.S. Amazon has the 2nd edition for 12.50 and it would probably be just fine :)

Thanks, Tasha. I'm going to go straight to Amazon.com!
