I have a horrible weakness for buying books. I have 4 professional books in my Amazon cart right now and am tempted to toss a few more in since I'll have free shipping.

I am a reading specialist and would love some recommendations for books you love. I especially would like some more picture books (because 2000 isn't enough ) that I can tie to specific concepts. Anything applicable for any grade K - 5 would be great, but I'll be focusing a lot on 1st and 2nd grade this year.

Also, what professional books have you recently loved?

I would like to place the order by the end of the weekend.

    Building Self-Esteem in Children

This is the book I will be reading this summer.

Mosaic of Thought is a must read.

I'm reading Catching Readers Before They Fall right now and it's changed the way I'm going to approach teaching reading next year-I really like it so far.

Absolutely loving Teach like a Pirate.

    Almost annually I read:
Everything Bad is Good for You
    The Global Achievement Gap
    The Essential 55

Thank you for all of the great suggestions. Some I've already read but others I'm going to check out. I already had Teach Like a Pirate in my cart since it sounds like a fun book.

Czacza, thanks for the Pinterest link for Choice Literacy. I subscribe to the weekly email, but haven't been following them on Pinterest. I'm going to browse their boards tonight and make some more choices.

Eep. I just ordered 21 books (13 picture books and 8 professional books).
