    Books

I love the idea of doing an activity as a gift, such as the poster who enjoys hot chocolate with her students. I always give each of my kiddos a book. Our local Rotary club buys new books which they give to us for distribution.

I love the idea of a whole-class gift! Thank you to all who shared their ideas about that :)

Two card games that are enjoyable for older kids are Quiddler and Five Crowns. Quiddler is a word game that can be played individually or with a large group, and Five Crowns is more of a number game. The games are put out by the same company, so the rules are very similar...when students have learned one, they'll pick up the other pretty quickly.

I've made bookmarks for students on Microsoft Word before - they turn out very nice and can be created with your group of students in mind. And they're useful!!
