I would love a rug for my library, a CHEAP one...I don't really care what it looks like as long as it's not cutsie and bright (not my style.) My school is really strict about the rugs being flame retardant. We have to clip the tag that says it's flame retardant, then a photocopy must be made for our room (the office keeps the original tag.)

I keep seeing great rugs around at places like WalMart and Target, but none of the rugs say 'flame retardant' on the tag. Am I missing something? Are only the really expensive ones truly flame retardant, like the ones from Lakeshore??

I saw a TON of classroom rugs on Craigslist last night-one huge one was only $150. I'm sure they have non-cutesy ones as well-check it out! (you can e-mail and ask about the flame-retardant-ness)

You might try Ikea as well. I don't know if theirs are flame-retardant or not - but they have some nice rugs! :)

I just purchased a $50.00 one from Ross Dress for Less, but I don't know whether any of the rugs there were flame retardant or not.

Oriental Trading sells flame resistant classroom rugs for under $200.
