What books would you recommend adding to my classroom library? I'll be teaching 2nd grade next year and my classroom library is really geared towards Kindergarten and 1st grade right now. I'd like to expand it with more books geared towards 2nd and 3rd graders.

Are there any series of books (Cam Jansen, Magic Tree House, etc.) that the kids really love that I should consider adding to my library?

Are there specific authors that write really well for that age level?

Any specific titles that you would recommend?

Are there any books that are 2nd grade specific that you could recommend? (Like the Miss Bindergarten/Kindergarten books...)

Thanks in advance for the help!

I agree with the above lists (although wayside school, wimpy kid, and captain underpants are more towards the 3rd grade level). My kids also love non-fiction books about sports, famous people, and science.

My kids (both boys and girls) are really into the Puppy Place books right now. They love books about animals, especially if they're really cute or "dangerous" (snakes, spiders, dinosaurs, polar bears...I guess really any animals haha).

At the beginning of the year, many of the kids are still really into picture books...I'd suggest the Froggy books and Arthur books.

I also love the Skippyjon Jones books! They're so entertaining :)
