I use Rubistar to make all my rubrics. If I can't find an appropriate option for the category, I'll modify one of the many that they have. I've had really great luck with this and best of all, IT'S FREE!

PM me your email address. The kids don't use the rubric but you could adapt it to fit your needs.

In another thread, another member posted this awesome self-check list that her students use for their writing. I thought it was really great and it might be a good alternative to a rubric.

I use smiley faces ranging from 4 to 1. I drew the faces on one side of a chart paper and on the other side were the responses of what kind of writing the students thought should equal the smiley faces. It is a chart that is done with the students.

I have three ratings - a star and smiley face (this means "WOW this was your BEST work") a smiley face by itself (this means "pretty good") and a check (meaning "not kindergarten work") The children and I talk about what certain assignments will look like to get each rating. I also send a copy of the rubric home for parents. Hope that helps a bit :)
