Right now my car isn't working, so my husband and I have only one car. There is a school I subbed at once a little over a week ago, that is walking distance from where we live. That day I got a ride there from my mother in law, and then walked home. Due to my dress shoes not being good for walking, I ended up walking home in my socks.

I'm working there later this week. Do you think it would be okay to wear sneakers there, and then in the office change into my dress shoes? Or should I walk in my dress shoes and deal with painful feet for the rest of the day?

I only have one pair of sneakers, and one pair of dress shoes that I wear. The dress shoes are fine for around the school and in the classroom, but I have found that anything other than that doesn't work.

Yes! Walk in sneakers and change at school!

Not a problem at all. I regularly bring tennis (well, REI) shoes for when I go out to the field to facilitate a game each week. I've even brought jeans on occasion to change into after students have left for the day.

Yes, in our cold climate we often wear boots to school and then change into dress shoes when we arrive. All of our students are also expected to change their shoes (indoor shoes & outdoor shoes).

I do it all the time. I come to school in comfy shoes and then switch to work appropriate shoes. I have a "wardrobe" of 3 work appropriate shoes I keep in school.

Yes, take care of your feet! I live in snow country and pretty much everyone - adults and kids - walk in in boots and then change into other footwear after arriving.

Thank you. I had no issues in regards to the shoes. The only issue is I miscalculated how long it would take me to walk, and got there really early.

    Your question was about shoes.

Yes, but be careful students don't see your boobies while tying your laces. ;)

We are allowed solid black athletic shoes... so I have some super comfy new balances. But yes I would change!
