Well, I don't think I got the aide position. It has been taken down. I know I should stay positive, but that is getting harder and harder. It seems when things get taken down, they have offered it to someone else. I have a feeling that my assistant principal from my last school is ruining it for me and I might not ever get hired because of him. I'm going to put down my district mentor since she was in my classroom more than either P or AP, and she'll give me a great reference.

lil-I have to wait 60 days before I can take that test again. I'm thinking of going for my reading specialist certification.

This is a vent! Hubby who really is normally very supportive of whatever is or isn't going on with my job hunt really blew it today. He told me that I should go flip burgers at the Dairy Queen. I was complaining about not having something to do everyday and he freaking told me that. If he wasn't over in Afghanistan my friends would have had to come bail me out of jail or wait you dont get bail for murder. He also told me that whatever happened at my old school I should just forget about. Well it's kind of hard to forget about it when I am thinking it's my principal that is stopping me from getting a job. Anyway I have stewed about it all day and NOW I am pissed that he would even say those things to me. I know he was having a bad day overseas but hey you should never tell your wife who busted her ass to get through college being married and having 4 kids she needs to go flip burgers. Ok sorry I needed to vent to people who would understand.

:hugs: txmom. My DH has been very supportive of me and understands how hard I'm working to get back into the classroom. I'm sure its different because he's here to see the struggle where your husband doesn't necessarily see what all you are doing to get a job.

Okay, so I applied for a Reading Specialist position. I was going to register for the cert exam, but it won't give me the test to select. I'm going to call SBEC tomorrow to see what the deal is. I haven't heard anything yet.

I'm thinking of emailing the P from the aide position again to ask about the position and then ask for some feedback on how I can interview better. Thoughts?

Sounds like a great idea and then please share on what principals are looking for in an aide position. i applied for an aide position here on a district I would like to teach in. Do I tell that to the principal when and if I get an interview. Do i tell them that I have higher aspirations that just being an aide for the rest of my career?

txmom-I will email him tomorrow. As far as your question, I would ask the principal what their policy on hiring aides as teachers is.

Back from the interview. It was me, the P and the lead ESE teacher. It was weird just a few quick questions and it turned into a talk for an hour. Told me they would make a decision in the next day or two. Sending thank-you notes today!

Crossing my fingers for you MAT.

Well it is official, I didn't get the aide position. I received the letter today. I have already emailed him asking what I could improve on. There are two positions (a financial clerk and reading specialist) here where I live that are still available. The clerk position has been posted since late Sept, but they are still reviewing apps and will start interviewing soon. I know nothing about the reading specialist position, though a friend of my DH's knows the assistant super and he talked to her yesterday so crossing my fingers that that pays off.

I spent the day at our high school. We had 4 kids (current and former) killed last night in an accident. I was there in case any of the teachers just couldn't make it through the day. It was a rough day. Luckily my kids didn't know any of the kids and I knew of them but didn't know them personally. I spent most of the day in the office fielding calls and filing papers. Not exactly how I saw myself spending my day today.

As the permanant job prospects get even slimmer (ok nonexistent) the sub jobs are starting to come. (4 days) in Sept, (8 days)Oct, (8 days) so far for Nov, 2 weeks longterm in Dec, 3 month long term Jan-Mar. Atleast I'll be able to cover my bills, but xmas is going to be TIGHT this year!

NEFLteacher, good to hear about the LTS job. It's nice to know where you're going everyday. Those can be great networking experiences.

No rejection letters in the mail. I really, really hope that they didn't call me about the position just to waste my time. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that this works out. This waiting is killing me.
