The P says he will be meeting with the super soon regarding my status. That's what he told me but I think the letter's been written. I might know my fate today or Monday.

Well, the P and I had our talk today. He again mentioned the deal. I told him that I did not want to resign so he will recommend a pink-slip to the super. He says that I can reapply for the position when it posts. I think I'm gonna just start packing up my stuff and be done with this place.

Question: Now that a pink-slip's coming, when is a good time to pack up my stuff? Last time, I found out at the last minute so no students were around. This time, I was given the notice and we still have a week left. I think the students may have figured it out when they walked into the classroom with me and the P talking.

Any teacher down to the last week should be packing up most of their personal stuff if they intend for it to be available for use next year. Leave it at your own peril, and no rants when it disappears.

You're over thinking this. Pack whenever you feel like it. The students most likely didn't pick up on anything, teeneagers are very self-absorbed. The students aren't going to care if you are packing up your stuff--they are ready for summer.

Actually, they've been asking if I'm coming back and I said, "All I know there's a board meeting on Thursday. I'd know at that point"

I'll bring in cardboard boxes on Friday. ;)

Why would you tell them that? Teacher employment is adult business. The kids have zero reason to know if the board releases a teacher.

Just pack, tell the kids if they ask that you will not be back...don't give a reason, and move on. School will be out for less than a week for summer vacation and you will be a distant memory in most of the student's minds. Look forward to your next adventure!

What sucks is that the P said he's gonna post the position and I can reapply for it. I really think he's gonna post it but he will have someone ready to fill it. And it won't be me. ;)

This is the longest, most drawn out saga I've heard in quite some time!

Are you still wondering why I called your P a bozo? :dizzy:

I know! It's as if he's teasing me just so he won't have to say, "You ain't coming back." So I'll tell everyone "I'm not coming back" to take control of the situation. :)

I took my posters down. A student walked in and said the room looked naked. ;)

I believe he meant to say you are the source of the long drawn out drama and saga.

If I was in your shoes, I'd simply push forward doing my best teaching, waiting to pack as I always do until the final couple days (or after school ends), applying for other positions and interviewing as such. If an interview at that same school popped up, and I wanted to stay, I'd also interview there. The rest, I'd let fall as it does...I think you're expending too much effort, thought, and time, in worrying about the situation!
