Hello Everyone, I am currently a teacher in California. I have single subject credentials in English and Social Studies. In California, if you have a 'clear' credential, which is essentially a professional level credential, you can add a subject area to your credential by showing an out of state credential. So, before teaching I worked in optics and used algebra, geometry, and calculus daily. I have over 5 years of experience and AZ apparently will allow you to add an area to a teaching license in a field if you have 5 years of work experience. My thought is that I would get a Math credential in Arizona after getting a standard teaching certification in English and Social Studies based on reciprocity in Arizona. Then, once I have my AZ math credential in hand, I would apply for a math credential in California based upon having a full, professional credential in AZ. My question is: Do you know anyone who has shown subject matter competency through work experience this way in Arizona? The directions are to send in a resume, which I could do, but I'm looking for some tips if anyone has any?
