I got a new job and I'm really excited about it. I want to announce on social media, but I'm friends with some coworkers who I'll be leaving and I'm not ready for them to know just yet. It wasn't a great situation in my school last year. I haven't even told the people who were kind enough to write me letters and act as references. I've gotten "how's the job search going" questions and I've been vague. Once I tell one person, the cat's out of the bag and everyone will know. I'm not sure why I'm keeping it so close to the vest. The paperwork is done except for the finalized contract, which is awaiting paperwork from the district I'm leaving to confirm salary placement.
Anyway....I don't think I'm asking for advice. I just wanted to share my news somewhere!

Congratulations. I also agree. Say nothing until it is completely finalized. Even then, you might want to wait for the school year to start and then thank your references.

Congrats on the new job! Have you resigned from your previous job yet? If so, I just wanted to warn you that your coworkers may figure it out if they see your job posted. I know quite a few people at my school who regularly check the job postings in the spring/summer just to see what's going on. One year, a friend got a new job and hadn't said anything to her teammates because she was "figuring out how to tell them." They were very close and no one knew she was looking. Lots of drama and hurt feelings when her position was posted before she told them!
