I just got my Master's degree in August 2011 and I have been searching high and low for a job: PT or FT. For a while after I graduated I kept telling myself it hadn't been that long since I graduated and I shouldn't give up but lately it has really been bringing me down.

Many of the people I graduated with are finding jobs in the field and I can't help but feel jealous of their success and wonder why I am not as lucky. I could really use some prayers or similar woe stories to help me get through this. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others, but I'm kind of in a funk about it almost being a year after graduation and still not having any bites for a job.

    :thanks:

With the theme of Prayer, I would urge you to try for a Catholic School teaching position. Fewer candidates seek these positions because they pay less and after a year or two you will no longer be fresh out of college when you apply for future jobs.

Try out of state. Some districts in NC are hiring. Be willing to move.

Moving is not an option because of financial reasons and family medical reasons. I need to stay in Illinois. No offense, but picking up and moving is not the answer for many people...

Agreed. I know it wouldn't be an answer for me. Please do not be offended but have you had any interviews? Could it be related to your results in the "teacher insight exam? You should at the very least be getting interviews and if you are not it might be wise to look into your resume the teacher insight exam and etc. Just my .02

Anywhichway, I will say a prayer.God is in control

I've only gotten interviews for any and all long-term subbing positions through the district I sub for. I have a M.Ed in ESL and a B.A. in teaching of secondary English (language arts).

I work PT as an adult ESL instructor, too. No districts have called me for interviews since the beginning of the year & I have had my resume edited by 2 department chairs. Very few schools I apply to have a teacher insight exam.

    Now I'm really disheartened...

Don't be...it sounds like you have a solid education and doing everything you can. Your day will come and in the meantime praying is the absolute best thing to do.:hugs:
