I interview for a teaching position (1st grade) last week. I heard from the principal the next day and she said that they went with someone else. She told me that the only reason she didn't hire me was because I didn't have experience with that grade level. She said that if there were any positions posted on the website, she would be more than happy to recommend me for them.

I am definitely disappointed but I understand that they probably needed someone with experience, especially with school just starting. I am working at an elementary school after school program which isn't exactly what I wanted but it leaves me free to sub during the day so hopefully I will get something soon!

And subbing will get you experience in the different grade levels.

I'm so sorry. Hang in there. Subbing is a great way to become "known" in schools etc. as someone who is dependable, hard working and great with kids. Keep your chin up!
