I want to do a 1960's Groovy, tie dye type of theme. I found tie dye border and plan to cover my bulletin boards with lime green fabric. I think the bright colors and fun deco. will be fun for my fifth graders (and for me;)) I need other ideas (deco., behavior, bb's, etc.) that would be fun. Thanks!!!

How about a black light (will work with educational posters as long as they have white, other light colors), lava lamp, bean bag chairs, bead curtains, lots of flower power cutouts?

This sounds just like my bedroom in the 1960s!

For background music, you can play The Beach Boys and The Bee Gees!!!!

Don't forget the "have a nice day" smilie face. I got one at the party supply store.

Ha ha! I'll be 53 in October, and I guess my memory is going prematurely -- I forgot they did have a couple of hits in the late '60s.

At least I didn't call you squirt

I do this "Groovey" Board every year!

I bought a plastic table cover with smiley faces, peace signs, mushrooms, lava lamps, and swirls on tie-died back ground. I think I got it at a party store but it could have been Target or Wally World. I made a gigantic lava lamp to place right in the middle. The title says "Get back in the GROOOVE... finish it as you please... I have flanked it with the 6+1 writing process for the last few years and added "of writing, and then changed the title to "Grooooovey Writers" as they finish their first piece. You could change it to... the groove of school or anything that suits you. I hope this helps you.

Maybe hang some old records from the ceiling...they would spin and that might be cool.

    what about records?

And, if you do a google search, there's a neat craft you can do with old records. You can put them in the oven and melt them (partially) and reshape them into bowls. They're really neat and easy to do.
